Wiccans gather at Capitol
BY LINDA GARCIA Lincoln Journal Star
To the slow beat of a drum, a procession of about 100 people paced into the Capitol Rotunda on Sunday to celebrate Earth Religion Awareness Day.
Led by Jason Blodgett-McDeavitt, high priest of the Wiccan coven Order of the Red Grail, the group gathered around samples of crops for a ritual known as the calling of the quarters. The Guardians of the North, South, East and West were called upon to bless the crops under their protection. Then Blodgett-McDeavitt and his wife, Cynthia, read a Wiccan prayer to the god and goddess.
At the end of the ritual, before the circle was broken, Jason Blodgett-McDeavitt remembered to ask his guest speaker to address the group. Cantor Michael Weisser, of the South Street Temple, read Martin Niemoller's well-known poem about Nazi aggression.
"In Germany they came first for the Communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist," Weisser began. At the end, he added his own verse: "And now, in America and in Nebraska, they come for the pagans, and it is time we spoke up. These words should be a guide to our governor." Weisser said he didn't agree with Gov. Mike Johanns' refusal to sign an official proclamation in honor of the day. As governor and, previously, as Lincoln's mayor, Johanns has signed such proclamations recognizing Christian events and organizations.
"We have religious intolerance in the Statehouse, and silence is tantamount to permission," Weisser said.
Kelley Young, a member of the Wiccan church First Order of Ancients in Omaha, said she loved the poem and the ritual at the Capitol.
"I hope the governor listens, because we aren't such bad people. We're like everybody else," she said.
Tim Rinne, state coordinator of Nebraskans for Peace, said his group had opposed then-Mayor Johanns' March for Jesus proclamation last year.
"This is an inappropriate action blurring the lines between church and state. It sets a dangerous precedent," he said.
But all thoughts of Johanns and proclamations faded as the group went to the Antelope Park band shell for a small festival. Participants grilled hamburgers and hot dogs as bands played and stories were told. A table offered pamphlets with more information on pagan religions.
Nadine Murphy, who hosts "Murphy's Magic Mess" on KZUM Radio, read a poem and told stories. Jumpin' Kate and the Love Mafia was one of the musical acts to entertain the audience.
The day was sponsored by the pagan communities of Lincoln and Omaha and The Way Home Music and Books.
Johanns is a protector
At last we have a governor who is a true statesman, who stands on his own convictions. As head of the state of Nebraska, he is wanting to protect his people.
In 1981, the WICCA (Witches International Coven Council) listed several goals at their convention in Mexico. Among their goals were: Educate the "new-age youth" infiltrating schools, having prayers removed, teachers teach about drugs, sex, freedoms; instigating and promoting rebellion against parents and all authority; open drug and pornography market to everyone.
This organization promotes Gaia, the Earth mother religion in schools.
Gov. Johanns shows true leadership by not declaring a day for WICCA, because he wants what is best for the people of the state. Gov. Johanns wants Almighty God's blessings to fall upon the people.
Would you prefer God's blessings or a WICCA curse?

Clearly, Bernie has read way to much in the way of conspiracy theory literature. Mr. Kerr Cuhulain wrote a wonderful resource book called The Law Enforcement Guide to Wicca(Third edition 1997). Pages 51 to 59 go into great detail about the "WICCA Letters".
In short, these so-called WICCA Letters first surfaced in 1986 in Passport Magazine - a publication of the Calvary Chapel of West Covina, California. A basic web search shows no reference to the magazine or the church since 1988, that I was able to find using the INFOSEEK engine.
The informants used for the Passport Magazine article were Edna Elaine Moses and her friend "Dr." Rebecca Brown. For more information on the illustrious carrers of these ladies, refer to the following articles: (Article 1); (Article 2); (Article 3) - be warned, these take a sympathetic view on some very wacky ideas! For the other side of Brown and Moses, check out the following: (Article 4); and the very informative (Article 5).
Additional versions have been produced
by the National Information Network (NIN). This version, were it not for
being taken as gospel by unsuspecting fools, would be absolutely hilarious.
Take the description of Article 7:
SEVENTH LETTER cannot be opened
until all have been accomplished. The due date for the letter to be opened
is June 21, 1986.

Looks like we are way behind schedual folks! Silly conspiracy theorist, Secret Masters are for Freemasons!
There is a strong parallel between the WICCA Letters and the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, a nasty little bit of BS that surfaced in Russia in 1907 exposing the secret Jewish government bent on world domination. They have subsequently been proven to be forgories, but that doesn't stop those who want to hate from using them.
So, who wants to take over the world
today? Is it the Jews? Is it the
Freemasons? Perhaps the Knights
Templar are still out to make the world in their image? Hey, perhaps
the Illuminati
is still running around, or the Dagon
Cult of Cthulhu? Could it
be the Trilateral Commision?
Hey, maybe even the Chrisitan Coalition!
Personally, I'm putting my money down on Pinkey
and the Brain.
